My guest today is Dr. Timmesha Butler, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Assistant Professor at Ramapo College of New Jersey, and provides psychotherapy in New Jersey and Virginia. Dr. B shares with me her personal story that led to where she is now, including pivoting from law school to social work. We talk about her experience as Black woman with a PhD, her love of working with teens and advocating for children with IEPs. We talk about mental health and college-aged students and a call for greater empathy in our education systems and why it matters.
“I love being a social worker and an educator because I have the ability to see the whole person and not just the student.” – Dr. Timmesha Butler
