Dr. Quincee Gideon is a psychologist, educator, and expert in trauma recovery and post-traumatic growth. She is particularly interested in advocating for healthy boundaries, self-discovery and challenging our own inner shame. Over the years Dr. Quincee developed a specialization in codependency, how trauma impacts the brain and body, cults, and religious trauma. On the show we discuss religious trauma, cult trauma, what constitutes a cult, why a person would get involved with a cult, and so on. Dr. Quincee also shares her story of coming from a very religious upbringing to taking missionary trips to Africa and all the pieces of the puzzle that led to the work she does now.
“You should always be able to leave a group, no matter what.” – Dr. Quincee Gideon
